Pros of Solo Cleaning II

The original "Pros of Solo Cleaning" was so popular that I ran a 'Best Of' replay recently. I covered 10 pros that are very persuasive if you're evaluating a cleaning business for yourself. Here are the 10 pros listed out. Check out the original podcast for the details of each pro.
  1. Money - A new solo cleaner can set up a part business earning $400-$500/week part time. As they progress through my ISO Model Signature Solution, they can increase their part time income to $1,000/week, increase to full time and earn double that, or transition to hiring employees. The part time money potential is amazing if you do it right.
  2. Flexibility - You can schedule jobs when it works for you. You're the boss. If you want days, clean houses. Nights or weekends, clean small offices.
  3. Low Startup - For under $1,000, you can get your DBA, make your business liability deposit, and invest in your basic equipment & supplies.
  4. Tax Advantages - Your cleaning expenses are tax deductible. You can even write off your mileage and home office. If this is a side business to the family or you're only source of income, the tax advantages alone can make it worth
  5. Learning - Once you get the hang of cleaning and your system, you can listen while you clean. It's up to you what you put in. I recommend audiobooks on business, finance, and personal growth and podcasts on the same.
  6. Service to Others - You get all of these advantages as you serve moms that NEED your help. It feels great to help people.
  7. Easy to Learn - You can do something you already do (cleaning your house) for money.
  8. Burns Calories -  did you know that a 3-hour house or office cleaning burn 600 calories? Think about it if you clean three houses a day that's 1,800 calories you are burning per day. I used to eat 4000 calories a day, pigged out and never gained weight. As a optimized and had more time in my office I started gaining weight.
  9. It's Therapy - Many find the act of cleaning something dirty very calming and therapuetic.
  10. You are Needed - There are tons of Alicia & Emily's wanting to hire you! - It's always needed, listen to Moms Helping Moms Helping Moms and listen to Alicia & Emily's story.

In this follow-up episode, I'm going to add 3 more to this list based on conversations I've had with other solo cleaners since releasing the first ten in October 2019.
  1. Friendships & Networking - I've shared how hard it was to say goodbye to my old New York clients in 2018 in "It was Hard to Leave". Like me, you will build lasting friendships with clients and some may go to the point of considering them family. This is awesome for solo cleaners as we tend to be introverts. You can make friends and grow healthy relationships that can endure through a lifetime of service. You will also develop these friendships locally through networking. This is huge as you build your business. These friendships lead to referrals.
  2. Recurring Income - This is a power pro of cleaning in general and the main reason many business-minded people enter our industry. I've covered this before, but it's so valuable that we must cover it again. Do you understand how powerful recurring income is? I want you to think of the painter or contractor that finishes a great year with say $80,000 and then starts over on January 1st. He has to look for new clients and new work all the time. He gets paid once for one job, then repeats the process. Compare this to the nature of recurring income. You can add weekly, biweekly, and monthly clients in one year and still have them years later. You get the job once, then show up every couple weeks to get paid for years. Let's look at that painter again. He worked hard all year to earn enough clients to make $80,000. But he has to do it all over again. In my business, I have more than $80,000 in recurring income. When I ended 2020, I didn't have to find a new $80,000! All I have to do is show up. I don't have to think about it, except to do great work, be on time, and build trust. My income for 2021 started where 2020 ended. I love recurring income and so should you. In fact, I've build my entire ISO Model off the recurring income model. Cleaning is known across many industries as being one of the most recurring business models available. That's a HUGE pro!
  3. Bonus Income - You will be compensated in multiple ways outside of the power and stability of recurring income. First of all, there are many types of 1-time cleaning jobs you can tackle from real estate presentation cleaning to post-construction to window, carpet, tile, and disinfecting jobs. These will not increase your ISO Model standing as it's not recurring in nature. However, it's still money and if you're copying my ISO Model, the money is ALL BONUS! Just recently of, I completed 2 1-time real estate jobs for $1,100. My recurring income more than pays all our family bills. Therefore, I was able to use that $1,100 for extra things my family needed and save the rest. I mentioned the pro above on feeling like your clients are family. Do you receive gifts from family at Christmas? I can't promise you anything, but myself and many cleaners that I know nationally receive gifts every Christmas from their clients. In past years in New York, I can remember years where I received over $1,000 in gift money. I would receive this money and the beautiful heart-felt cards and sweets with them and my heart would overflow with gratitude. Do a great job and be a great person and you'll collect bonus money for your family too!
